24.05.07 - Weekend Break in Spain
I've just had a great four days in Spain visiting my family with my girlfriend. It made a change to have a weekend away for reasons other than work (although I did manage to get roped into a bit of car mechanics, visit Valencia race circuit and watch World Touring Cars in a bar).
We stayed in Javea on the Costa Blanca, and I thoroughly recommend it.
We hired a car, which we collected from Valencia airport (it's only an hours drive from Valencia to Javea), and took in some wonderful views on our travels, as many parts of Spain are very mountainous.
The heads were a bit sore some mornings from sampling the many great bars and restaurants that line the Arenal beach, one morning we did not get in until 6.30pm (and let's not mention the karaoke).

15.05.07 - Porsche Supercup
I took part in my first ever Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Barcelona (Spain), 11th - 13th May, with HISAQ Competition, a German team. This was the third round of the Porsche Supercup Championship (Porsche Supercup supports the FIA Formula One World Championship).
That was one of the first things I noticed was different about this race - the amount of noise from the Formula 1 cars!
Driving for HISAQ was British driver Richard Westbrook and German driver Michael Shrey. Richard Westbrook finished first, and Michael Shrey finished 11th, so the team was very pleased. (However, there was too much traffic in qualifying to get a clear lap, which caused some frustration for the team.)
Richard Westbrook was very quick, leading by 5.4 seconds, and currently leads in the driver standings with 52 points. Irish driver Damien Faulkner is in second place with 50 points.
07.05.07 Porsche Carrera Cup
Round 3 of the Porsche Carrera Cup at Thruxton was a strange weekend, as testing took place in April. It was straight into qualifying, which went very well, as Steven Kane was faster than anyone else.
Then we changed a few of the car's settings between qualifying and race 1, and made sure the car was OK for race 2.
Steven won race 1 and got the fastest lap, and in race 2 he led from the start despite Kelvin Burt's big crash and having the safety car out for about 5 laps.
Standing in the pits watching the race live on the TV screen, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Kelvin Burt's Porsche roll and exit the circuit over the fence, narrowly missing the camera man and spectators.
Miraculously, no one, including Kelvin, was hurt.
Here's the footage:
