Race Events / Competitions
- Working as the No. 1 mechanic on the Porsche GB Cup Car in the annual Porsche Carrera Cup.
- Providing other teams in the championship with technical support, assistance and advice on behalf of Porsche GB, including rebuilding their engines and gearboxes.
- Single-handedly providing support to a team competing in the Spanish GT championship for 3 years, with their GT3 RSR.
- Scrutineering cars to MSA guidelines.
- Keeping good records of the cars components (lifeing) to avoid any kind of component failure.
- Promptly changing the camber, toe, rake, droop and ride height according to driver and circuit needs, using a flat floor with corner weight scales.
- Working quickly and efficiently in the pit lane under pressure.
Engine Building / Development
- Building engines to high standards, including Porsche race engines and Nissan engines.
- Developing GT3 RS engines using the latest modified parts from Porsche Germany.
- Operating Dyna Pack rolling road (New Zealand) to solve problems and overlay various power runs to gauge engine reaction at different modifications.
- Running in cup engines and power testing them for the Porsche Carrera Cup.
Team Work
- Working as part of a large team alongside lots of different companies including JCB, Xtrac and Ricardo.
- Liasing with designers to fit and overcome any problems with new parts.
- Cooperating with others under extreme pressure to meet tight deadlines, for example, building a race car and performing necessary repairs and changes in time for a race/test.
- Giving clear instructions to other team members to get the job done quickly.
Mechanical
- Building gearboxes and differentials to a high standard for Porsche GB and other Carrera Cup teams. Changing gear ratios at circuits under pressure.
- Running a SPA damper Dyno to test dampers at different settings, checking for consistency and detecting problems / cheating among other teams (scrutineering).
- Building turbos.
- Fitting JRZ three-way adjustable suspension.
- Fabricating, welding to a good standard using MIG & TIG welders.
- I have designed and made an engine dyno rig, engine stands and various tools.
- Performing body repairs between races to allow the car to race again on time.
Electrical
- Making wiring looms (including engine looms).
- Good knowledge of Pectel, PI, Modas and DTA engine management systems.
- Good level of computer literacy, including the ability to research new products and updates in order to keep up with new technology.
Managerial
- Assessing car needs and identifying parts suitable for a specific car / job.
- Delegating various jobs to members of staff in other departments.
- Organising the ordering of parts as and when required.
- Using my initiative to adjust my schedule to suit the availability of parts while still getting things done on time.

I am running Steven Kane (Car No. 8) in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. - JCB Dieselmax (2006 - 2007)
In my role as mechanic for the JCB Dieselmax Project I worked alongside three other mechanics to build the car from scratch. This was followed by three weeks testing in the UK and a further four weeks on the Bonneville Salt Flats where I contributed to breaking the diesel land speed record. - Parr, Porsche Specialists (2001 - 2006)
My responsibilities as motorsport technician included the role of No.1 mechanic on the Porsche GB Carrera Cup car and providing technical support to other teams. When in the workshop I planned the workload around other jobs and team requirements. - Silvia Engineering (1995 - 2001)
I fulfilled the role of project manager while working in a team of nine. The emphasis was placed on high production standards to meet customer requirements.
